2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vaine thing? Margin Note Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2:2 The Kings of the earth set themselues, and the rulers take counsell together, against the Lord, and against his Anoynted, saying,   The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
2:3 Let vs breake their bandes asunder, and cast away their cords from vs.   Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
2:4 Hee that sitteth in the heauens shal laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision.   He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
2:5 Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, and vexe them in his sore displeasure. Margin Note Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
2:6 Yet haue I set my King vpon my holy hill of Sion. Margin Note Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
2:7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said vnto mee, Thou art my sonne, this day haue I begotten thee. Margin Note I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
2:8 Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the vttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.   Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
2:9 Thou shalt breake them with a rod of iron, thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potters vessell.   Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
2:10 Bee wise now therefore, O yee Kings: be instructed ye Iudges of the earth.   Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
2:11 Serue the Lord with feare, and reioyce with trembling.   Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
2:12 Kisse the Sonne lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little: Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.   Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little.
